FAQs
What is the 2025 Westminster Declaration?
It is a call from Christian leaders and organisations across the UK to affirm timeless truths about life, marriage and family, freedom of conscience, and the role of faith in public life. It also carries calls on the university, and on the development of AI and other new technologies. In short, it acts as a teller of truth to public institutions.
Why is it being renewed now?
The original Westminster Declaration was issued in 2010. Since then, changes in law and culture around marriage, education, life issues, technologies, and freedom of belief have created fresh challenges, making an updated statement both necessary and urgent.
Who is behind it?
The Declaration has been prepared by a drafting group representing Christians from Anglican, Roman Catholic, free church, and independent church leaders, with support from a wide range of partner organisations.
Is this declaration party political?
It is not aligned to any party. It is a public statement of Christian truth and values, seeking the good of society as a whole.
